The right water delivery system will also be designed with reliability in mind. While 100% uptime is often unachievable for others, that's our expectation, and we know that thoughtful design choices can significantly reduce system downtime and minimize repair bills.

Most of all though, the right water delivery system will be designed for your local environment. The water table in certain parts of Florida is prone to significant (5-15ft) fluctuations at certain times of year, and it’s important that systems installed in these areas are designed with this in mind.

Similarly, the climate in some parts of our state is incredibly unpredictable and adverse weather events can wreak havoc on unprotected systems. As can the highly contaminated water found in many water sources.

Other vendors may try to sell you boilerplate systems – leveraging ‘off the shelf’ lake refill pumps or a pump station that lacks the innovative technologies needed to perform consistently in this environment.

But long-standing experience has taught us that you can save hundreds of thousands of dollars by doing things the right way, and designing for the specifics of your project.

We build our fair share of standalone pump stations, but we also contribute to large and complex projects that require interlinked systems with a lot of moving parts.

We’ve built and installed all of the water distribution systems on the Wellen Park development – an 11,000 acre master planned community with a 9 million gallon per-day water use allocation.

This is an ongoing project that’s expanding at pace, but when we last checked, we had built over 40 dedicated pump stations and points of connection for the Wellen Park development, including pump stations capable of moving over 4,000 gallons a minute.

Castellina Community Irrigation

We worked with this gated community in Wellington, Florida, made up of 260 single-family homes, featuring three large lakes. They had a number of issues with their irrigation system, which was installed in 2011. We carried out a phased revamp and upgrade of the existing system resulted in a long-term solution at a much lower cost than starting over. Read our case study on this total irrigation solution.

A Unique Approach

It’s easy to work up designs for a theoretical system that’ll never function in the real world. It’s also (all too) easy to develop a water delivery system that breaks on a regular basis – then pass the costs of that ongoing maintenance on to the organizations that were unfortunate enough to buy your technology.

We know because this is the model many of our competitors use. But we’re committed to doing things differently. We think the ‘break and fix’ cycle that so many others are locked into is incredibly wasteful, inefficient and expensive.

This is entirely avoidable. When water delivery systems are designed from a strong foundation – using the right technology and anticipating the minute details that break most projects, the results can be truly astonishing.

You only have to look to some of our more recent projects to see this. Take Riverstone as an example: Here, an HOA had taken ownership of a sub-optimal system that relied on two underperforming pump stations that were never fit for purpose.

Repair bills were draining the HOA's maintenance budget, and regular outages were causing hundreds of thousands of dollars of damage to the community’s landscaped green spaces. These problems would have been preventable if we'd been involved from the outset but the developers and HOA were misled and we weren't brought in until the issues were well-established.

When we were finally brought in to fix the problem, we replaced their pump stations with a single, well-optimized alternative that was designed to cope with the unique stresses associated with their landscape, and this pump station functions smoothly.

The HOA hasn't spent a cent on irrigation pump station repairs since the new water delivery system was installed in 2020. Resident complaints have fallen by around 90% -which just goes to show that doing things properly does yield tangible results.

In our eyes, this theory can be applied to projects of any scope – on golf courses or residential developments, luxury resorts, municipal landscapes or sports complexes like the Atlanta Braves’ spring training grounds.
