Best-In-Class Irrigation Pump Stations For Florida Projects

Irrigation Pump Station Design

It’s impossible to overstate the importance of a well-designed pump station. The beating heart of any irrigation system, your pump station is key to getting good flow and pressure, consistent performance and the efficiency required to save thousands of dollars in water and energy every month.

Think of it like this: a pump station has to work hard: it's the foundation of every water delivery or irrigation system.  A good pump station, built to last and working at consistently high levels of efficiency over the years will save you hundreds of thousands of dollars.

They’re exposed to a tremendous amount of wear, which means that any design flaws, functional inadequacies or sub-optimal components will inevitably expose themselves: Taking your system offline, generating unnecessary repair bills and ultimately jeopardizing the health of your landscape.

But, if your pump station is designed for the specifics of your development, park, golf course or sports stadium; if every aspect of its design has been optimized for real-world conditions and the designer has taken the time to ensure that common failure points are eliminated, there’s a very good chance that you’ll be able to minimize repair bills and protect your landscaping budget.

Doubly so if you invest in an intelligent irrigation pump station that uses cloud-based management software to flag potential issues – and buy from a supplier that's invested in the long-term success of your project.

Invest in Excellence

Here at Hoover, we focus on building lasting relationships with our customers. When you buy a Hoover pump station, our  in-house team will be providing the hands-on support you need - for the lifetime of your pump station. A lifetime that can be measured in decades.

Pump Station Designs You Can Rely On

We take a thorough and exacting approach to irrigation pump station design from the beginning of every project. Irrespective of the space we’re designing for, we work hard to ensure our products are hard-wearing, efficient and robust. More than this, we ensure every Hoover irrigation pump station is custom-designed to the specific needs of the landscape.

Your Hoover irrigation pump station will:

  • Provide the flow and pressure needed to nourish and protect green spaces
  • Have Hoover Flowguard built-in to ensure 24/7 performance visibility and management capability
  • Withstand the rigors of daily operations
  • Cope with local or state-specific environmental hazards
  • Deliver for years to come

Taking the time to design the correct pump station can prevent years of painful headaches, and save you hundreds of thousands of dollars.

When you do it right from the start, you prevent years of painful headaches and costly band aids. You'll save tens or hundreds of thousands by doing nothing more than making one smart decision.

  • Say No To Boilerplate Designs

Sometimes prospective customers approach us with a checklist of “must have” features for their new pump station. Or a list of components that they want us to use based on a project delivered elsewhere.

We know every project has its own unique requirements. That's why we custom-design each irrigation pump station accordingly. It's an approach that delivers long-lasting benefits and protects the investment our customers make.

  • Intelligence Built-In

Hoover's irrigation software, Flowguard, allows our customers to monitor their system 24/7.

But even more importantly, the constant input of information we get from Flowguard has allowed us to adjust and refine our understanding of exactly what each customer needs. So we deliver a remarkable product - every time.

  • Get the Irrigation Pump Station You Need

The key to a happy and stress free experience? A pump station that works properly and delivers for decades. It’s not just about getting the flow and pressure right. The ideal design also accommodates things like the rise and fall of your local water table, extreme weather and periods of prolonged stress.

We don’t like to use the word ‘future proof’ because it’s a tired and hackneyed phrase, but we do believe in building reliable pump stations that are designed to last.

  • Benefit From a Lifetime of Excellent Service

Alongside a reliable and efficient pump station, buying from Hoover means you’ll have access to a wealth of experience. We offer a dedicated installation and hands-on maintenance service to all our irrigation pump station customers.

After all, we know our continued success depends on the quality of our customer service.

A Proven Track Record

Over the last 40+ years, we’ve designed, built and installed approximately 9000 irrigation pump stations.  Some of our recent projects have called for the design of large transfer stations capable of moving 20,000 gallons per minute, while others have called for smaller 200 or even 20 gallon per minute booster stations to supply smaller residential developments.

Whatever the requirement, we can design a cost-effective solution that delivers the right amount of water, copes with the demands of your landscape and provides the rugged reliability needed to withstand decades of round-the-clock use.

Don't Just Take Our Word For It!

Ask any of our customers and they’ll tell you that Hoover is the only partner they’d consider. They understand that Hoover is the only company that approaches the pump station design process with the intellectual rigor and responsiveness needed to deliver truly spectacular results.

We never shy away from a challenge, and we always dedicate ourselves to the design of irrigation pump stations that are right for our clients. That means absolutely no corners are cut, and you can depend on our team to keep working until they’ve come up with a solution that’s perfectly optimized for your needs.

Case Study: Castellina Community

Castellina HOA came to us with a strong desire to finally address their unfit-for-purpose, expensive irrigation system. We designed a complete irrigation solution, that addressed the issues but didn't involve starting from scratch. This HOA now has an irrigation system they have confidence in and an irrigation partner they can rely on.

The Last Word In Pump Station Design

We’ve been ahead of the curve for several decades now. We were one of the first irrigation pump station design companies to use dedicated HDPE intake lines and per-motor VFDs in all of our pump stations. And as far as we know, we're still the only company to design complete irrigation systems for Florida's climate as standard: From ensuring every component is correctly rated to do the job required, to the right surge-suppression, advanced filtration, weather-proof enclosures, pest-proofing measures and more.

But we’re not here to sell you gimmicks or special features. We're here because our design philosophy always delivers – and we want to share it with Florida-based businesses.

When it comes to pump station design, we believe that the specifics have a tremendous impact on the real-world performance of your pump station. The best pump stations are designed by organizations that strive for continuous improvement: Organizations with the in-house experience needed to properly understand the environmental, economic or practical factors you’re dealing with – and make good use of emergent technologies to deliver the efficiencies your project needs.

With over four decades of hands-on experience, we’ve developed an approach that eliminates common weak spots, and allows us to design around the problems that plague other people's designs.

Case in point: We always go direct into the lake source whenever we can. We know that the turbine systems that use a wet well to pull water into a bore have the potential to add a lot of cost and complexity to  a project, for very little upside.

We’ve also learned to rely on disc filtration instead of the inadequate screen filtration used by most irrigation pump station designers because screen filters allow too much debris into your irrigation field – again, setting the stage for relentless maintenance and repair work.

Then there’s the way we anticipate fluctuations in your local water table, and design intake lines that’ll continue to deliver during a prolonged dry spell. It’s a process of continual optimization, and choosing Hoover is the only way of accessing that wealth of experience.

New Build Or Retrofit: We’ve Got You Covered

Speaking of embracing challenges, it’s important to note that we take on both new build and retrofit projects of any size.

It's fair to say that at any given time, a substantial number of projects we're working on involve replacing relatively new, three- to eight-year old pump stations! This is particularly common at turnover for example.

But, as far as we’re concerned, it makes no real difference whether you’re replacing a failure-prone pump station on an 860-home residential development, trying to cut down on $40,000+ annual sod replacement bills on a 560-acre master-planned community or designing a new water delivery system for a resort and golf course on the West coast.

We deploy the same specialists, and use the same field-proven methodologies to ensure you get the pump station your project really needs.

When it comes to it, we're equally comfortable designing a brand new irrigation pump station or designing for a pre-existing irrigation system that's not delivering. We relish the challenge of replacing outmoded equipment with a new pump station designed for the constraints of your system. We're confident in our ability to turn any new or old system into a fully-functioning asset that works hard to nourish and protect your green spaces.

We'll be right by your side, dealing with problems as they arise, and providing the preventative maintenance you need to keep your pump station operating at peak performance.

Our reputation is built on the back of our commitment to building long-term relationships and you can depend on us to offer an unparalleled level of involvement that goes well beyond the initial design and build.

Pump Stations Designed For Florida

Our systems never get replaced because they’re not good enough – or can’t keep up with demand.

We never hear anyone say they’re struggling with reliability issues because of the quality of a pump station we designed; we’re also confident that people aren’t forced to upgrade our systems because they’re not well optimized for the real-world conditions our clients experience.

But we know we’re unusual in this regard, because we’re often called in to replace other people’s systems because they can’t cope with the constant variation in irrigation needs across any given landscape - and the dynamic nature of our local climate.

To be clear, designing for Florida is challenging. The weather is unpredictable at best, water tables are prone to constant variability and water quality can be hugely variable too. That’s why we always aim to design systems that can adapt to varying conditions, and cope with:

  • Water quality variability
  • Water table fluctuations
  • Constantly changing field conditions
  • Rapidly changing demand

The components we use are chosen according to the specifics of your local microclimate and environment, focusing, for the most part, on ensuring the highest levels of protection from humidity, extreme heat and lightning damage.

There may be other systems that offer similar degrees of protection, but we’ve found that most manufacturers focus on designing for a global market. They do not consider the specific needs of businesses or developments here in Florida.

So if you want to work with designers that understand the realities of the situation, we’d encourage you to get in touch today. We’re always on hand to talk about irrigation projects, and it’s worth noting that we’re not just pump station designers either.

A fully-fledged irrigation pump station design company, we also offer in-house pump station installation services and regular maintenance packages for Florida businesses that want to protect their irrigation investment. There aren’t many things that cost as much as a best-in-class pump station, and we think it makes sense to ensure that the beating heart of your irrigation system is both well built and well looked after.
