Preventative Maintenance Service For Hoover Pump Stations

Irrigation Pump Station Maintenance Services

We build robust water delivery systems designed to withstand Florida’s harsh climate, and the stress involved in preserving healthy green spaces in such unpredictable conditions.

But even the most rugged and well-built equipment is still bound by the laws of cause and effect. Over the hundreds of thousands of hours it’ll spend pumping water around your development, parts will wear out, lubricants will dry up, and some components will need to be replaced.

Preventative maintenance is all about replacing these worn seals, lubricants and components before they damage other, more expensive parts, reduce the efficiency of your equipment, take your pump station offline and jeopardize the health of your landscape.

There’s nothing novel about this concept: you probably service your car, air conditioner and swimming pool pump at regular intervals, and this is really no different.

But there is something different about the way Hoover approaches preventative maintenance. We’ll expound in more detail on this page, but the long and the short of it is that we believe preventative maintenance should be:

  • Data-driven, using real-time data about the performance of your system to optimize the delivery of routine maintenance work - and cut down on waste.
  • Supplied by subject-matter experts, who know the tech inside and out, and have a clear incentive to extend the lifespan of pre-existing components instead of selling you replacement parts.
  • Modulated to fit the specifics of your current situation. If you just need someone to prevent unexpected downtime, we can keep things ticking over. But if you’re actively involved in improving the efficiency of your irrigation, we’re there to help.

It’d probably be more accurate to call what we offer ‘proactive maintenance’ but we’ll stick with the accepted nomenclature for now because our priority is still ensuring that your equipment operates at peak efficiency, and protects your landscape for years to come.

Hoover’s service team along with Hoover Flowguard are so valuable to us. They protect the capital investment, pump, irrigation system piping and landscaping. Thank you for looking out for the best for long term use of our system!

For most of our customers, our preventative maintenance contract costs less than 1% of their total landscaping budget. Just as importantly, it's also instrumental in preventing so many other additional expenditures on repairs to equipment and landscaping that occur on top of the cost of a maintenance contract every single year.

We see preventative maintenance for Hoover pump stations as critical to good customer service because it allows you to:

  • Save Money

A preventative maintenance program will save you a considerable amount of money versus the cost of mitigating unexpected downtime, delivering ad-hoc field repairs for damaged equipment or replacing landscape damaged during or by the failure of your infrastructure.

  • Protect Your Landscape

Your pump station is responsible for maintaining the health of neighborhood green spaces, golf greens, sports turf or any other landscape that depends on the careful delivery of clean water. Protecting your pump station protects your landscape, and minimizes repair bills.

  • Safeguard The Environment

Conservation isn’t at the top of everyone’s radar. But if doing things the right way saves you money and protects Florida’s most precious resources, there’s really no good reason to fall back on old habits and opt for a solution that damages the local environment.

Hands-On Support From Hoover’s Own Team

Good preventative maintenance agreements - ones that deliver more than words - are hard to find in our industry.

When they offer them at all, competing pump station manufacturers tend to outsource to third parties that are ill-equipped to anticipate emergent problems, and incentivized to sell replacement parts instead of prolonging the lifespan of components you’ve already paid for.

We Never Outsource Maintenance Or Repair Work

Hoover employs its own technicians to carry out all routine maintenance, service and repair work because they’re intimately familiar with our pump station technology, and have the experience required to spot problems or opportunities to increase efficiency that other, less qualified technicians would miss.

Our hands-on approach is supported by Hoover's own Flowguard software that allows us to look at every aspect of your pump station operation for at least the last year. It's a combination that enables us to deliver proactive maintenance that guarantees far better results than any number of drive-bys or fixed number of visits each year.

We're not motivated to sell replacement parts; for us, preventative maintenance for our pump stations means getting ahead of breakages and costly repairs for customers.

We know the biggest benefit to our bottom line comes from a reputation for supplying top of the line equipment that can go the distance and the regular oversight and maintenance required to keep a pump station running smoothly and reliably.

Intelligent Maintenance – Designed To Deliver Value

Most preventative maintenance programs are hobbled by an over reliance on routine. It’s possible - and perfectly reasonable - to estimate the average lifespan of a given component  or the rate at which a wear part will need to be replaced.

But experience teaches any technician that real-world conditions will always complicate any attempt to deliver maintenance on a schedule.

That’s why we use data from Flowguard to chart the performance of your pump station over time, and try to predict when or where our input is required.

Not only this, our approach is to actively advise and manage how a system is being utilized and operated. It's this that takes our maintenance to the next level, it's a cohesive blend of  input and oversight with field activity.

Taking this approach means that we are much more likely to mitigate against potential losses or damage from wear and tear or abuse. It also means that we’re much less likely to put boots on the ground if your machinery is running well.

Put simply, it’s about delivering efficiency and cost-savings without jeopardizing the health of your landscape – or over-complicating your day-to-day.

'Flying by Your Wingtips' For The Duration Of Your Project

Providing unparalleled access to subject matter experts isn’t a common thing in this industry, but we know it’s key to ensuring that you're free from the stress and hassle caused by malfunctioning equipment, unscheduled outages or spiralling landscape repair bills.

We also know that our good reputation depends on the success of your project, and feel (very strongly) that people maintaining landscapes in Florida deserve to be freed from the ‘break and fix’ cycle that cripples so many municipal, residential and commercial projects.

That’s why we’re strong on deploying our teams whenever they’re needed, and offering a preventative maintenance service that’s customized to suit the specifics of your project.

Compared to your overall landscaping budget, our maintenance contracts look like a rounding error. They’re also a fraction of the cost associated with preventable landscape or equipment repair bills and all the other costs associated with running unmaintained water delivery systems.

The level of service we can deliver improves when you engage with us, and let us into your world.

Customers who stay plugged into Flowguard, invite us to work through problems and tell us what’s happening on the ground get more out of their professional relationship with us - beyond just preventative maintenance.

We're all about preventing failures and focusing on what needs to be done. And while simply engaging us to monitor things remotely and step in on a routine basis will still deliver excellent value for money, there’s no getting around the fact that we do our best work when we are integrated with our customers and/or the landscape managers they’ve contracted to take care of their green spaces.

In short, we think everyone gets more out of relationships that see us working together to deliver reliable irrigation and protect your landscape.

No One Else Is Qualified To Maintain Hoover Equipment

You may hear some landscaping contractors and/or third party maintenance companies claim that they are qualified to work on Hoover equipment and/or maintain one of our pump stations because they’ve been through a training course or are authorized by Hoover. This is never true.

The only people qualified to maintain and service Hoover pump stations are Hoover's own technicians.

Only they have the knowledge, experience and the authorization to access the operational logic of Hoover's own pump station management software in order to carry out maintenance and diagnostic work. This is something unqualified third party contractors cannot do without breaking or bypassing the system.

Hoover technicians spend all day buried in the innards of our irrigation pump stations and draw on thousands of hours of hands-on experience every time they’re called on to service or repair equipment.

They have an eye for detail, and the ability to spot minute variances in the condition of key parts, which means that they’ll often spot the early warning signs of an emergent problem long before your average maintenance contractor. They’re also the only people who can draw on the 40+ years of institutional knowledge needed to diagnose and repair significant problems.

Preventative Maintenance Powered By Hoover Flowguard

Our maintenance technicians also draw on data from Flowguard, Hoover's own irrigation management software.

For 20-plus years now, Flowguard has been continuously improved so we can meet the expections of our customers. This software sits at the very center of our preventative maintenance service, and allows us to access incredibly detailed information about the minutiae of your pump station’s performance.

For example, it charts the draw of individual pumps in real time, monitors water use across your project and automatically flags up unexpected behavior like short cycling, or the increased flow associated with a stuck valve.

And when we say ‘flag up’, it’s worth pointing out that Flowguard is designed to send real-time alerts to any cellular or internet-connected device.

In real terms then, it tells us every time something’s even slightly amiss – as well as providing us with the historical data needed to go back and diagnose the problem using detailed information about every slight variance in pump station performance.

Leveraging Hoover Flowguard we can maintain round the clock visibility of your system and anticipate potential problems – enabling us to help your team jump in and take corrective action, or deploy a field team with the equipment needed to enact a speedy repair.

You can access all of your own Flowguard data too. In fact, we encourage all of our customers to engage with Flowguard so that they can rest assured that we’re basing our diagnoses on sound data.

Since day one you have always maintained the highest standards of customer service and knowledge and have continued to do so.

Case Study: Castellina Community

Castellina HOA came to us with a strong desire to finally address their inefficient and poorly optimized irrigation system. We designed a complete water delivery system that addressed the issues but didn't involve starting from scratch. This HOA now has an irrigation system they have confidence in and an irrigation partner they can rely on.

Part Of The Hoover Process

Our preventative maintenance contracts are an integral part of our service offering. If you have a Hoover pump station, we want to ensure it's maintained to the highest standards. There’s a very good reason for this.

We owe our continued success to a philosophy that sees us roll up our sleeves, and climb down into the trenches so that we can work side-by-side with our customers.

People come to us because they want reliable infrastructure. But they stay with us because we commit to the success of their project and work tirelessly to ensure that their irrigation infrastructure nourishes their landscape without wasting water, or incurring unnecessarily large repair bills.

A combination of professional curiosity, pride and fidelity sees us working alongside some customers for decades or more, and while other manufacturers or suppliers content themselves with doing the bare minimum, we’ve always pushed ourselves to do what’s right for the people we work with. Not least because we value our reputation as Florida’s foremost pump station specialists.

Designed to Bring you Peace of Mind

All this to say that commissioning us to supply pump station maintenance services is about a lot more than entering into a service level agreement that’s designed to protect your landscape from unnecessary harm.

That’s certainly part of what’s on offer, but the reality is that customers leveraging our preventative maintenance service are assured of round-the-clock support and advice, and benefit from access to technical solutions designed to ensure their irrigation system is always functioning at peak efficiency.

The reduction in repair, water and energy bills has an obvious and tangible value. But reduced complaints and time savings offer the peace of mind that most customers really value. After all, you have enough to worry about without losing sleep over the condition of your irrigation infrastructure or your landscaping.
