Description

The Challenge

The original pump station, installed in 2005, had no telemetry and only a single control valve to manage pressure, with no way to run pumps efficiently or spot problems remotely. Drawing from a wet well fed by the site’s retention lakes and a supplemental well, it served a large, multi-building retail and leisure destination, not a small shopping plaza, so reliability mattered across the whole site.

The Solution

Rather than retrofit the ageing system, Hoover replaced it entirely in 2021 with a new pump station built around FlowGuard and VFDs, still drawing from the same original wet well. The upgrade gave the client real-time visibility and control that the 2005 setup simply couldn’t offer, along with more efficient pump operation in place of the old fixed control valve.

The Outcome

The new system supplies irrigation water across almost the entire development. FlowGuard’s remote shutoff capability means that if a mainline breaks, the water supply can be closed off quickly, rather than running unchecked across roads and walkways for hours or days before anyone notices, as could happen under the old setup.
